Australian Business Leaders Feel Cyber Security Risks Are Increasing

Cyber Security Audit

68% of Australian business leaders feel their cybersecurity risks are increasing. Recent research shows a 154% increase in cyber attacks between 2019 and 2020, with increased growth in ransom-related DDoS (RDDoS) attacks. What does that mean for you as a business owner? It’s time to up-level your company’s cyber security with professionals who know exactly what to do to protect your business…and here is why.

DDoS Ransom Attacks Increasing
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks take advantage of the specific capacity limits of a network’s resources. For example, the infrastructure that enables a company’s website. The DDoS attack will send multiple requests to web resource to purposefully exceed the website’s ability to handle multiple requests. This then causes the website to stop functioning correctly.

Then, the attacker sets extortion demands against companies to demand a ransom amount. These attacks not only increased in volume and sophistication but the attackers are branching out to hit a wider net of businesses including financial services, government and telecommunications.

DDoS ransom attacks are much faster and easier to implement as well as harder to trace compared to infecting a company’s network with malware or ransomware, which takes time and careful planning.

Unfortunately, we don’t see this trend decreasing. If anything, the Australian business’s need for professional cyber security will only continue to rise. Identify gaps in your defences first before the malicious attackers can infiltrate your system. Our cyber security audit reviews your setup against industry best practice and recognised cyber security standards so you know where you stand.
