For the first time ever Apple’s Mac have outpaced Windows PC in the number of threats detected per endpoint. For years Windows machines tended to have more security vulnerabilities, making them a bigger target for hackers.
However, due to Mac’s popularity, hackers seem to be focusing more on macOS. From 2018 – 2019 there was a 400 % increase in threats on Mac devices. However, it may not be as bad as it sounds. The top 10 Mac threats were adware and what are known as “potentially unwanted programs” while Windows devices were more prone to “traditional” malware threats.
