Active Exploitation of macOS Screen Sharing Flaw CVE-2026-65400: Why Network-Accessible Services Require Continuous Caution

Recent alerts from cybersecurity authorities have confirmed the active exploitation of a high-severity macOS vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-65400. This security flaw permits unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code and gain full administrative control over exposed systems, serving as a timely reminder that turning on any network-accessible service introduces inherent operational risk.

Understanding the macOS Vulnerability (CVE-2026-65400)

The flaw resides within the state management component of the built-in macOS Screen Sharing feature across supported operating systems, including macOS Sonoma, Sequoia, and Tahoe. When Screen Sharing is enabled on a Mac, the operating system opens port 5900 on its internal firewall settings.
